QUETTA: In a new offensive against militant elements in the province, security forces killed ten terrorists in separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in the Kech and Ziarat districts of Balochistan.
Three terrorists were slain during an operation in the Kech district, close to Turbat, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). On the basis of intelligence regarding the existence of militants in the region, the operation was initiated.
The ISPR stated in a statement that “a heavy exchange of fire took place between security forces and armed terrorists during the conduct of the operation; our own troops effectively engaged the Khawarij location, as a result of which three terrorists were sent to hell.”
The ISPR said that the terrorists who were killed were responsible for multiple attacks against security forces and the deaths of civilians and that weapons and ammunition were found on their bodies.
The prime minister calls terrorists enemies of peace and commends security officers.
“As the security forces of Pakistan are determined to eradicate the threat of terrorism from the nation, a sanitization operation was carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area,” the statement read.
The security forces were commended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for their successful operation in Kech. He praised the forces’ professionalism and bravery and reiterated the government’s commitment to defeating terrorism in a statement released by the prime minister’s office.
The government would continue the path of progress and development, he added, adding that the terrorists are opponents of Balochistani peace and the province’s prosperity. In addition, the prime minister reaffirmed that the country as a whole supports the security forces in their defense of the homeland.

In another incident, security officers in the Choteer neighborhood in the Ziarat district killed seven terrorists during an operation based on intelligence reports.
According to officials, the planned operation happened between Monday evening and early Tuesday between the Choteer and Sanjavi districts. The security forces replied after taking positions after being fired upon by armed militants concealed in the area.
According to an official, “a heavy exchange of fire continued for two hours, during which the militants also used hand grenades.” After the firing stopped, seven bodies were found in the area.
The bodies were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Ziarat by Levies staff, according to Ziarat Deputy Commissioner Zakaullah Durrani, who also confirmed the fatalities.
According to him, locals had previously suspended all traffic on the Sanjavi-Ziarat road in protest of the militants’ presence there. Despite the assistant commissioner’s efforts to negotiate, they first refused to reopen the road.
Traffic was restored in the afternoon when the demonstrators agreed to lift their barricade after discussions facilitated by Deputy Commissioner Durrani.
