In Islamabad, on Tuesday, the apex committee of the National Action Plan (NAP) gave its approval for a comprehensive military operation in Balochistan with the aim of addressing militancy and separatist activities.The committee has reiterated its commitment to rejuvenate the National Counter-Terrorism Authority (Nacta) through the Azm-i-Istehkam vision to eliminate the resurgence of terrorism.Leading the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed a strong determination to dismantle the outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), which has been linked to recent assaults on civilians and security personnel in the region.
The gathering was graced by the presence of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Asim Munir, along with all chief ministers, the prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, federal cabinet members, and senior officials.The participants have also sanctioned a detailed military campaign against terrorist groups active in Balochistan, such as the Majeed Brigade, BLA, BLF (Balochistan Liberation Front), and BRAS (Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar). These groups have been targeting innocent civilians and foreigners, aiming to disrupt Pakistan’s economic growth through inciting instability at the instigation of foreign adversaries, stated the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
