YouTuber Saadur Rehman, also known as Ducky Bhai, was granted protective bail by the Lahore High Court on Tuesday in a case against him for allegedly driving carelessly on the highway.
His plea was accepted by Justice Shahbaz Rizvi, who also ordered him to appear in court on May 5 for his trial and prevented the police from arresting him until then.
The case was launched at the Chakri police station in Rawalpindi on April 19 and was brought against Rehman after he posted a video in which he seemed to be operating a vehicle with his feet on the dashboard.
According to the FIR, he drove a car on the highway with “extreme carelessness and recklessness.” It claims that his actions put the lives of other drivers on the road in danger in addition to his own.
The FIR cites Article 67 of the National Highway Safety Ordinance, 2000 (driving dangerously), and Section 279 of the Pakistan Penal Code (rash driving).
Rehman recognized the footage in an interview with reporters outside the court, but he refuted some of the more serious allegations. “The claim that I was driving with my feet is false—my feet were on the dashboard, not the steering wheel,” he stated, adding that he was not here to offer explanations.
“It might look like that in the video because my left eye is closed, but my right eye is open — I have proof,” he said in response to allegations that he was dozing off while driving. I can be seen giving instructions throughout the entire film.
Rehman emphasized that the vehicle has automated braking and auto-steering capabilities, calling the clip “a mistake” and “pointless.” He claimed that if a car is ahead, even if it is far away, “it chooses its own speed, stays in lane, and brakes automatically.” “You can also see that I made sure there was nobody in front of me in the video.”
“I’m not justifying anything; I’m just giving my side of the story,” he continued, noting the carelessness of the footage.
