U.S. President Donald Trump has described India’s confirmed attack on Pakistan as “shameful,” expressing concern over the escalating tensions in South Asia.
According to U.S. broadcaster CNN, President Trump was informed of the incident on Tuesday evening just before attending a ceremony at the Oval Office.
“It’s a shame,” Trump said. “We were just walking through the doors of the Oval when we heard about it.”
Following the swearing-in ceremony of his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, President Trump remarked, “I think people anticipated something happening, based on the past. They’ve been fighting for a long time—you know, they’ve been fighting for decades and centuries.”
He added, “I hope this ends very soon.”
A spokesperson from the U.S. State Department also issued a brief statement, saying, “We are closely monitoring the situation.”
Earlier, the Director General of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, confirmed that India had launched cowardly missile attacks on several locations, including Kotli, Bahawalpur, Muridke, Bagh, and Muzaffarabad.
Pakistan’s national broadcaster PTV News, citing security sources, reported that the Pakistan Armed Forces were delivering a forceful response. The Pakistan Air Force reportedly shot down three Indian fighter jets during retaliatory operations.
