The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warned on Sunday that localized dust and thunderstorms with rain were possible in Karachi on Monday night.
According to the PMD, a westerly wave is impacting the country’s central and upper regions.
According to the PMD’s forecast, Karachi’s weather would continue to be “hot and humid with chances of isolated dust-thunderstorms and rain on [Monday] evening.”
It also mentioned the possibility of rain and thunderstorms in Karachi’s outskirts in the evening.
The PMD stated that isolated locations in the districts of Jamshoro, Tando Mohammad Khan, Badin, Hyderabad, Mitiari, Tando Allahyar, Mirpurkhas, Nosheroferoz, Sanghar, Khairpur, Ghotki, Umerkot, Tharparker, Badin, Shikarpur, and Kashmore are likely to see dust storms and rain caused by thunderstorms today.
According to its warning, lightning, windstorms, thunderstorms, and hailstorms could harm unsecured objects like solar panels, trees, cars, and electric poles.
The PMD went on to say, “Farmers are advised to manage their crop activities keeping in mind the weather conditions and also take care of their livestock.”
According to the Associated Press of Pakistan, the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued a warning earlier today about the possibility of landslides in Murree and Galiyat as a result of the heavy rain that was predicted, advising residents to take the appropriate safety measures.
The twin towns of Rawalpindi and Islamabad had frigid weather on Friday due to heavy rain, strong winds, and hailstorms.
Earlier this week, the PDMA had issued a rain advisory, predicting a high probability of lightning strikes along with violent storms and heavy rains through May 4.
According to the article, a PDMA Punjab representative told a private news channel, “We encourage visitors to Murree to exercise caution and keep an eye on the weather.”
Additionally, he urged them to refrain from needless travel during the erratic weather.
“Tourists [should] closely obey local authorities’ directions and safety regulations. To reduce hazards, residents have been warned to stay out of open spaces, according to the article.
The PDMA advises citizens to abide by plans and rules for disaster management. To keep safe, citizens are urged to remain vigilant and heed the PDMA’s advice.
The PDMA reported on Friday that rain and windstorms in various Punjabi cities had caused 24 injuries and two fatalities.
The public has been instructed to phone 1129 for assistance in the event of a disaster.
