Karachi: The Jafria Alliance and Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen (MWM) emphasized the suffering of the tumultuous area of Parachinar on Tuesday, claiming that a humanitarian crisis has been developing there that affects people of all religions, not just Shias.
They urged state institutions, the federal government, and the provinces to address the current Parachinar situation and lessen the region’s sectarian prejudice.
They recommended that the Shia population in Kurram should not be the object of political resentment and that the issue be resolved right away.
The two organizations’ heads, at separate press appearances, urged cooperation and communication as the only means of bringing peace back to the unstable area.
Speaking at a news conference held at Wahdat House, MWM Allama Sadiq Jafari and other leaders said that the problem in Parachinar was not sectarian and that a particular anti-Pakistan gang was responsible for causing havoc in the region.
According to MWM and the Jafria Alliance, the
best way to bring peace back to a volatile area is through conversation.
He claimed that the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa must answer for his inability to bring about peace in the area and that the provincial administration has equal responsibility for the continued killings.
The MWM leaders denounced the bloodshed in Kurram, especially in Parachinar, where terrorists had been targeting locals more frequently during the previous three months.
With senior leaders by his side, he said that the blockage is causing a severe humanitarian catastrophe since it is causing a lack of petroleum items, such as food and medications, which affects not only Shias but also members of the Ahle Sunnat group. “After roads were blocked in the area, more than fifty innocent children also perished from a lack of medication,” Allama Jafari stated.
Since the closure of roads and the ineffective reaction from security forces point to culpability in the deaths of innocent people, the provincial government’s role in making matters worse is no different. Their suspicions of government participation are only strengthened by the administration’s inability to stop the killing and assist the people of Parachinar with basic necessities.
In support of the five-day demonstration in Parachinar, the party also organized a protest sit-in at the Numaish crossroads.
Press conference for the Jafria Alliance
Alama Syed Razi Jafar Naqvi, the leader of the Jafria Alliance, voiced serious concerns at the Karachi Press Club about the government’s and institutions’ insensitivity as well as the deteriorating situation un Kurram.
He also criticized the “deliberate escalation” of tensions in Parachinar and emphasized the ongoing issue while accompanied by other leaders.
He said that numerous innocent youngsters had already perished during the ongoing siege as a result of acute food and medical supply shortages.
The government’s lack of seriousness in handling the situation in Parachinar could pose a serious threat to national security, Allama Naqvi said, adding that sectarian intolerance had been tearing apart Pakistani society for decades and that even the historically peaceful Kurram region was now being used as a battlefield for terrorism and foreign agendas.
He urged the government to take all necessary steps to ensure lasting peace in the region.
