Israel warned Houthi commanders that a missile fired from Yemen “will reach you too” after striking ports and electrical infrastructure utilized by the Houthi rebels in Yemen on Thursday.
According to Houthi media, the strikes killed nine individuals and injured others when they struck power plants, oil installations, and a port in Hodaidah.
The attacks followed the Houthi rebels’ intercepted rocket that was headed for Israel. Israel has been the target of the group’s many attacks due to its military action in Gaza.
“Perfect strikes were carried out on Houthi military targets in Yemen, including ports and energy infrastructure in Sanaa, which the Houthis have been using in ways that effectively contributed to their military actions,” according to Israel’s military.
According to the Houthi official outlet Al-Masira, a number of “aggressive raids” were carried out in the port city of Hodeidah and the Yemeni capital of Sanaa.
In and around Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, it reported raids that “targeted two central power plants.” In Hodeidah, it claimed that “the enemy launched four aggressive raids targeting the port […..] and two raids targeting” an oil complex.
According to the report, seven individuals had been murdered in strikes on the Al-Saleef port, while two more had been killed and others injured in the strike on the oil complex.
The attacks followed Israel’s military’s second successful intercept of a missile from Yemen this week.
In reference to Israel’s Tel Aviv region, the Houthis claimed a missile launch on Monday that was directed at “a military target of the Israeli enemy in the occupied area of Yaffa.”
Additionally, the military reported that a drone fired from Yemen was intercepted by an Israeli naval missile boat in the Mediterranean on Monday.
On Monday, the Houthi rebels promised to keep up their operations “until the aggression on Gaza stops and the siege is lifted,” claiming to be acting in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
No one was hurt when a Houthi-claimed drone detonated on the upper level of a residential building in the city of Yavne, central Israel, on December 9.
An Israeli citizen was murdered in a Houthi drone attack on Tel Aviv in July, which prompted retaliatory attacks on the Yemeni port of Hodeidah.
The United States and occasionally British military have launched retaliation strikes on Houthi targets as a result of the Houthi’s frequent targeting of shipping in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
Daniel Hagari, an Israeli military spokesman, claimed that the group has turned into a “global threat,” citing Iran’s purported backing of the rebels.
He declared, “We will keep taking action against anyone in the Middle East who poses a threat to the state of Israel.”
