QUETTA: Dr. Mahrang Baloch, the head organizer of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), and 150 other people are facing a formal complaint from the police for allegedly causing violence, removing bodies from a mortuary by force, and other offenses.
The case concerns an event that occurred at Civil Hospital Quetta earlier this month, where BYC members allegedly broke into the morgue and removed the bodies of five “militants” who had been slain in an operation against train hijackers.
Charges under various provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) are included in the FIR, which was filed at the Sariab Police Station on March 22.
The charges include offenses such as inciting violence and revolt, terrorism, murder and attempted murder, causing unrest and inciting racial hatred, and property damage.
Beebow Baloch, Gulzadi Satakzai, Dr. Sabiha Baloch, Sabatullah Baloch, Gulzar Dost, Riaz Gashkori, and Dr. Shali Baloch are among the other important BYC leaders named in the FIR.
In accordance with Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance, authorities detained Dr. Mahrang Baloch and 17 other individuals on Saturday morning and placed them in the Quetta district jail.
Three people were killed and fifteen police officers were injured when the BYC leadership allegedly encouraged rioters to open fire on police officers, bystanders, and their own demonstrators, according to the FIR.
100 to 150 BYC supporters are accused in another FIR filed at the Civil Lines Police Station of breaking into the morgue, storming Civil Hospital, and forcibly removing the dead. According to the FIR, the accused also attacked the driver of a private ambulance at Hockey Chowk, placed the bodies into the car, and intercepted the ambulance.
Furthermore, BYC leaders Gulzadi Baloch, Ali Jan, Shoaib, Syed Noor Shah, Waheed, Jahanzeb, Zohaib Baloch, and more than 100 others are facing a formal complaint at the Brewery Police Station for obstructing Quetta’s Western Bypass Road on Saturday while yelling anti-state slogans and stirring up unrest.
The arrest of Dr. Mahrang Baloch has not been formally announced, according to police officials. She is still in Quetta District Jail in accordance with MPO regulations and is not in the custody of Civil Lines Police.
