Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has reiterated that Iran has no intention to build nuclear weapons, while strongly defending the nation’s right to pursue peaceful nuclear energy and scientific research.
Speaking in a passionate address to the Iranian parliament, President Pezeshkian appealed to the nation to set aside differences and unite in the face of what he described as “genocidal and criminal aggression.”
“We have no plans to produce nuclear weapons,” Pezeshkian declared, “but we will staunchly defend our legitimate right to nuclear energy and scientific development.”
His remarks echoed the long-standing religious decree issued by Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which prohibits the use or production of weapons of mass destruction.
Referring to this fatwa, President Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran’s nuclear ambitions are strictly peaceful and enshrined within international law, saying:
“We have a right to nuclear energy and scientific advancement, and no one can take that right away from us.”
His statement comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and Israel, with both countries engaging in escalating military exchanges. Amidst this, global attention has once again turned to Iran’s nuclear program a subject of longstanding international scrutiny.
President Pezeshkian’s calm but firm tone aimed to reassure both domestic and international audiences that Iran seeks strength through unity, not destruction, and that it remains committed to its religious and legal principles regarding nuclear weapons.
