Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has revealed that Iran attempted to target him directly by firing a missile at the window of his bedroom. He also alleged that Iran plotted to assassinate former U.S. President Donald Trump in two separate attempts.
In an interview with Fox News, Netanyahu claimed Iran had declared Trump its “Enemy Number One” and planned assassination attempts one during a Pennsylvania rally and another at Trump’s private golf club. These plots, he said, were in retaliation for Trump’s hardline stance on Iran, particularly his withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal, the killing of General Qassem Soleimani, and his opposition to Iran’s uranium enrichment.
“Trump’s policies made him Iran’s top target. I was a junior partner in that effort and Iran tried to eliminate me too,” Netanyahu stated.
He disclosed that a missile was fired directly at the window of his private bedroom, suggesting a deliberate assassination attempt by Iran.
Netanyahu warned that Israel faces a dual existential threat:
- Iran’s rapid nuclear advancement, and
- A growing arsenal of long-range ballistic missiles.
“Iran is pushing toward weapons-grade uranium and increasing its missile stockpile. These are threats Israel cannot ignore,” he emphasized.
Netanyahu’s comments also offered the first insight into Israel’s military operation “Rising Line”, launched on June 13, which aims to destroy Iran’s nuclear and missile infrastructure.
“This operation is crucial not just for Israel’s survival, but for global security,” he said.
He described the campaign as a necessary response to Iran’s increasing hostility and warned that inaction would only embolden Tehran.
An Israeli military official, speaking anonymously to Reuters, confirmed that around 80 strategic targets in Tehran were hit during the first phase of the operation, including dual-use fuel facilities linked to Iran’s military and nuclear programs. A senior Houthi military leader in Yemen was also targeted.
This revelation comes amid intensifying conflict between Iran and Israel, with both nations launching direct missile strikes and threatening further escalation. Netanyahu called the situation a critical moment for international action, particularly regarding Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
