It is thought that a guy who attempted to attack Brazil’s Supreme Court in the capital city of Brasilia on Wednesday night was murdered by his own explosives.
Shortly after two explosions shook the area, he was discovered dead outside the building. Before the explosion, onlookers claimed to have seen the man toss what looked like explosives. According to officials, no other people were harmed in the event.
The location has been secured, and the man’s body is being searched by a robot that disposes of bombs. Police claim to have found a timer that may be connected to additional gadgets.
Jorge Messias, the nation’s solicitor general, promised a thorough inquiry into the explosions and denounced what he claimed was a planned attack.

He wrote, “I strongly condemn the attacks against the Supreme court and the lower house,” in a statement that was uploaded to X.
“We must know the motivation behind the attacks, and to re-establish peace and safety as fast as possible.”
News outlets aired pictures of the dead guy laying outside the court while police surrounded the area.
Police spokesperson Maj Raphael van der Broocke stated, “A timer was identified and it is possibly linked to other explosives. The Military Police robot is searching the body of the individual who carried out the attack.”
“Other explosives have already been identified around the body,” he stated. “We need to be very careful to carry out this search and, if necessary, detonate these explosives at the site to prevent them from causing a chain reaction.”
Celina Leao, the deputy governor of Brasilia, informed reporters that a man had approached the court’s entrance but was unable to enter, causing the explosion. She suggested that while the investigations were ongoing, parliament should be closed on Thursday.
According to the AP news agency, she told reporters, “It could have been a lone wolf, like others we’ve seen around the world.”
Since there was only one victim, we are treating it as a suicide. However, enquiries will reveal whether such was the case.
An eyewitness reported seeing a man wave at her before hurling explosives at the justice building of the Supreme Court.
Lavana Costa told TV Globo, “This guy just waved hello and said nothing else when I was at the bus stop.”
“Then the sound reached us. I noticed smoke and fire when I turned to face the commotion. The security guards from the Supreme Court [STF] arrived. The statue of justice had previously been hit by something he had thrown.
“He tossed something once again as the STF security guards got closer. It exploded at that point, and he hit the ground.
In a previous statement, the Supreme Court claimed that the building’s evacuation was a “precautionary measure” following the sound of explosions. It further stated that the justices were promptly and safely evacuated after concluding a plenary session.
The court is situated across the square from the presidential offices at the Praça dos Três Poderes, also known as Three Powers Plaza. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva reportedly departed the region just prior to the explosions, according to local media.
A week before Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled to return to the capital after attending a G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, the explosions occurred.
Last year, supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro trashed the buildings in an attempt to stop President Lula from defeating him in the election, causing widespread chaos in the square.
