Tehran: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has firmly rejected U.S. President Donald Trump’s call for unconditional surrender, warning that any military action by the United States will have serious and irreversible consequences.
Speaking in a nationally televised address on Wednesday, Khamenei said Iran will never submit to U.S. pressure, and dismissed Trump’s remarks as both offensive and historically ignorant.
“Peace or war cannot be imposed on Iran,” Khamenei declared. “Those who understand Iranian history and the spirit of our nation know that threats are futile the Iranian nation will never surrender.”
- First Official Response Since Israeli Strikes
This was Khamenei’s first formal response since Israel launched airstrikes on Iran last Friday, marking a significant escalation in the region. He addressed the nation through state media, breaking his silence after a weekend of growing regional turmoil.
“Israel has made a grave mistake by attacking Iran — and it will face the consequences,” he said.
- Strong Rebuttal to U.S. Threats
Referring directly to President Trump’s recent statements, Khamenei emphasized:
“No wise person familiar with the Iranian people or our history would dare to speak to us in the language of threats.”
He added that the Iranian people will never forget the blood of their martyrs or the attacks on their land, underscoring the deep national resolve to resist external aggression.
- Firm Stand on National Sovereignty
Khamenei reiterated Iran’s long-standing position that its sovereignty, dignity, and right to defend itself are non-negotiable.
“We will not bow to any superpower, and we will not allow war or peace to be dictated to us,” he said, echoing sentiments shared by many Iranian officials in recent days.
- Context: U.S.-Iran Tensions at Boiling Point
The statement comes amid escalating military conflict between Israel and Iran, with the U.S. heavily backing Israel and issuing strong warnings to Tehran. President Trump’s earlier remarks urged Iran to surrender “unconditionally” or face severe military retaliation.
Khamenei’s rebuttal appears designed to rally national unity and send a clear message to the international community: Iran will resist both U.S. pressure and Israeli aggression.
