With INR30 crore for her part in Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu’s upcoming film SSMB29, directed by S.S. Rajamouli, Priyanka Chopra has become the highest-paid actress in Indian cinema.
Citadel, an international spy thriller series on Amazon Prime Video, reportedly brought in INR41 crore for the Bollywood actress who is now a global celebrity. In terms of salary, Chopra has surpassed top actresses Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt, and Nayanthara due to her growing influence in both Hollywood and Indian movies.
Los Angeles resident Chopra last appeared in an Indian film four years ago, costarring with Rajkummar Rao in The White Tiger. Her comeback to Indian cinema with SSMB29 is a significant one. In January 2022, the actress gave birth to her daughter Malti via surrogacy.
After earning INR20 crore for Kalki 2898 AD, which came out right before the birth of her daughter Dua in November 2024, Deepika Padukone was formerly the highest-paid Indian actress. For Pathaan, she had already received INR 15 crore.
Alia Bhatt made INR15 crore from her most recent movie. She gave birth to a daughter named Rhea in November 2022. While her film Jigra, which she also produced, did not do well at the box office, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani did.
Nayanthara, who became the surrogate mother of twins in 2022, has also been charging a lot of money. Her reputation as a pan-Indian celebrity was cemented when she received INR12 crore for Jawan and INR11 crore for Annapoorni.
Priyanka Chopra’s global fame and crossover appeal seem to have established a new standard for Indian actress compensation, despite the fierce competition.
