
With Eid being celebrated on Shawwal 1, which marks the end of Ramadan, moon sightings in the United Arab Emirates are scheduled for March 29.
Eid Al Fitr holiday dates for government sector workers nationwide have been issued by the United Arab Emirates.
The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources said Monday that the holiday will start on Shawwal 1 and end on Shawwal 3, 1446 AH, which is the Gregorian calendar’s equivalent. Shawwal 4 will see the start of work.
With Islamic months lasting either 29 or 30 days, the moon sighting in the United Arab Emirates is scheduled for March 29. On Shawwal 1, which signifies the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan, Eid is celebrated.
In the event that the crescent moon is visible on March 29, Eid Al Fitr holidays will begin on Sunday, March 30, in accordance with the Gregorian calendar, meaning that most employees nationwide will get a four-day holiday from March 29 to April 1.
The first day of the Eid Al Fitr celebration, however, will be March 31 if the Moon cannot be seen on March 29 and the holy month has passed its 30-day mark. Residents will have a five-day long weekend in this instance, starting on March 29 and ending on April 2.
Given that Friday is a weekend for Sharjah’s public sector workers, some government employees will have up to six days off for Eid Al Fitr.
Sharjah government workers will have a five-day break from Friday, April 28 to Tuesday, April 1 if Eid falls on Sunday, March 30. In contrast, these workers will have a six-day long weekend from Friday, March 28 to Wednesday, April 2, if the festival starts on Monday, March 31.
