The Middle East stands on the brink of a wider war as Israel warns civilians in Tehran to evacuate areas near nuclear facilities, hinting at further airstrikes, while Iran vows a devastating counter-response to any additional aggression.
The crisis has escalated dramatically after Iran’s missile assault stunned global observers, killing 14 Israelis and injuring over 200, according to The Times of Israel and other local media. Israeli President Isaac Herzog called last night “one of the most difficult” in recent history.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated:
“Tehran will become the next Beirut. Iran made a grave mistake by targeting civilians they will face the consequences.”
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government has advised residents living near nuclear installations in western Tehran to evacuate immediately, a move widely interpreted as preparation for targeted strikes on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
A senior Israeli military official, speaking to Reuters, confirmed:
“We still have a long list of targets inside Iran.”
He added that nearly 80 sites in Tehran were struck on Saturday night, including dual-use fuel facilities supporting military and nuclear operations.
Additionally, Israel claimed responsibility for a drone strike on the Chief of Staff of the Houthi forces in Yemen, indicating a widening regional military campaign.
In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned of severe retaliation. Quoted by Mehr News Agency, an IRGC spokesperson said:
“If Israeli aggression continues, Iran’s response will be even more intense and widespread.”
As tensions rise, the possibility of direct strikes on Tehran’s nuclear program appears imminent. The IRGC has placed all air defense systems on high alert, while civilian shelters in Tehran are being prepared for emergency use.
This conflict, now entering a dangerous phase, has already seen both nations targeting each other’s energy grids, defense systems, and strategic infrastructure. Global powers have urged restraint, but neither side shows signs of backing down.
