In a major development, Kuwait has lifted its 19-year-long visa ban on Pakistani citizens and officially resumed the issuance of various types of visas, including work, family, visit, tourist, and commercial visas.
According to Dawn News, the Gulf nation has taken a significant step by removing the restrictions on visas for Pakistanis, now allowing them to apply through online platforms for employment, family reunification, tourism, and business opportunities.
A spokesperson for Pakistan’s Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis confirmed the decision and highlighted its potential benefits. “This move will open up thousands of opportunities for employment, trade, and tourism for Pakistani nationals in Kuwait,” the official said. “All types of Kuwaiti visas can now be obtained through an online portal, eliminating the need for lengthy application procedures.”
The spokesperson added that job opportunities in Kuwait would contribute to Pakistan’s economy by generating valuable foreign exchange. The digital application process is expected to make visa access smoother and more efficient for Pakistani citizens.
This announcement follows a recent report by Gulf News, which quoted Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Zafar Iqbal, confirming that the Kuwaiti government has formally resumed the issuance of various categories of visas to Pakistani nationals. The ambassador emphasized that this is a significant move to strengthen bilateral relations and address Kuwait’s growing labor demands.
Dr. Zafar Iqbal also revealed plans to recruit 1,200 Pakistani nurses to meet the increasing demand in Kuwait’s healthcare sector. The first group of 125 nurses was scheduled to arrive last week; however, their arrival has been delayed due to accommodation issues.
“Special teams are actively working to resolve the housing situation,” the ambassador said, expressing optimism that the nurses will reach Kuwait in the coming days.
This renewed visa policy is seen as a milestone in Pakistan-Kuwait relations and a welcome opportunity for skilled Pakistani workers and professionals looking to contribute to Kuwait’s workforce.
