According to sources, an altercation with terrorists in Bannu late Wednesday night resulted in the martyrdom of three Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police officers and the injuries of two others.
The gunfight happened in the Spin Tangi neighborhood of Chashmi, Bannu, according to a statement released today by Bannu Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sajjad Khan’s office.
Three members of the Bannu CTD staff were martyred: Assistant Sub-Inspector Benyamin Khan, Constable Inam Khan, and Constable Musawar. Imran and Wafid Khan, two constables, suffered injuries.
According to him, police shooting killed two khawarij, a term the state uses to describe terrorists, and wounded two more. Their collaborators also took the bodies and were hurt.
“Police seized weapons, ammunition, hand grenades, and IEDs (improvised explosive devices) that were recovered from the terrorists,” the spokesperson stated.
RPO Khan, Bannu District Police Officer Saleem Abbas Kalachi, and the CTD Superintendent of Police arrived at the CTD hospital as soon as the event was reported. There, they visited the injured soldiers and asked how they were doing.
In order to provide the greatest care for the injured, they also gave the hospital staff instructions.
According to RPO Khan, every resource at hand will be used to provide the injured personnel with the finest care possible.
He declared, “We will soon exact revenge on our martyred brothers and fight the terrorists to the end.”
The area has been cordoned off and is being searched by a sizable detachment of CTD and Bannu police. According to the spokesperson, terrorists’ hideouts are being raided.
Faisal Karim Kundi, the governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, condoled with the families of the slain and denounced the incident.
In a statement released by his office, KP Governor House, Kundi praised the staff for their valiant efforts to combat the terrorists.
“The police and security forces’ sacrifices against the terrorists will not be in vain,” he declared.
