Five terrorists were slain during a combined operation with other law enforcement forces in the Duki district of Balochistan, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) reported on Saturday.
Security forces have stepped up counterterrorism efforts in response to the rise in militant attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
The CTD said in a statement that the combined operation was carried out in the Dhabar Pahari region of Duki and that “five terrorists were killed during the action.”
They were also accused of participating in “attacks on coal mines, [security] forces, and citizens” and belonging to a “banned organization.”
The bodies of the terrorists who were killed were moved to the Duki Civil Hospital, according to the CTD statement.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti praised the counterterrorism operation carried out by the “CTD, FC [Frontier Constabulary], and other LEAs.”
In a statement, he declared that “every conspiracy to destabilize Balochistan will be thwarted” and that “state institutions are fully active against terrorism.”
According to CM Bugti, “every possible action” is being taken by the provincialal government to safeguard people’s lives and property. “Those who assist the terrorists will also face discriminatory action,” he continued.
The chief minister vowed that the province’s “journey towards peace and development” will continue, declaring that “anti-peace elements will not be tolerated under any circumstances.”
The CTD operation follows General Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff, who reaffirmed the state’s will to combat terrorism and pledged to eliminate “whatever stands in the way of Pakistan’s progress.”
He added, “Even ten generations of terrorists cannot harm Balochistan and Pakistan.” “Do Pakistan’s enemies think that a handful of terrorists can decide the fate of Pakistan?” he asked.
