Skardu – April 15, 2025: Two passenger buses operated by the Northern Areas Transport Corporation (NATCO) were involved in separate road accidents at different locations, resulting in at least two fatalities and multiple injuries, including that of a NATCO employee and three foreign nationals.
According to reports, the first accident occurred near Shah Maqsood, where a bus traveling from Gilgit to Rawalpindi lost control and crashed. The second incident took place in the Dassu area, involving a bus that was en route from Rawalpindi to Skardu.
Emergency response teams from Rescue 1122 and Motorway Police responded promptly to both sites, launching immediate rescue and relief operations.
While the identities of the deceased have not yet been officially released, sources confirm that three foreign citizens are among the injured. The total number of injured passengers is yet to be confirmed as rescue operations continue.
Authorities have begun investigations into the causes of both accidents. NATCO officials stated that further details will be made available once the initial reports are compiled.
